This year my concert attendance increased over 100% from 2014. This year I made it to five shows, while the previous year only two. Maybe not up to the numbers of the glory days of the early 2000s, but progress, and who knows what 2016 will bring...
*5.15.15: Lyle Lovett & John Hiatt @ State Theater (Ithaca)
After seeing these two together in 2008 at the same venue, I hoped they would return. Two great singer-songwriters telling stories and playing songs = a stripped down, intimate showcase of immense talents.
*5.20.15: Brit Floyd @ Crouse Hinds Theater (Syracuse)
An impressive Floyd approximation both visually and sonically. My only concern is that they go a bit too far in trying to recreate the theatrics of last portion of The Wall, which are best left to Roger Waters.
*9.23.15: WILCO @State Theater (Ithaca)
Still the best. The entire new album, a bunch of the classics, and a hootenanny-style encore. September 2014 brought Tweedy to the State and September 2015 brought Wilco - hopefully this turns into an annual event.
Here is Box Full Of Letters from the sold out show.
*11.1.15: Carly Rae Jepsen @ Barton Hall (Cornell)
I had some hesitation about going but am glad I did. One of, maybe the, album of the year live and a show full of joy.
*11.20.15: Guster @ State Theater (Ithaca)
I had seen Guster once a year from 2000 to 2006, but then a big gap between ‘06 and this show. I was quickly reminded why I had previously kept up with them and realized that was too long a hiatus. Strong new album, the classic banter, and a fun crowd.
